Malt Yearbook 2016:  In previous years Macaloney Distillers Ltd made the popular Malt Whisky Yearbook available to its 200+ Founder-Owner-investors. Now that our Victoria Caledonian Distillery will be opening  soon, we have secured a bulk order of this European publication and are now making it available to club members. Victoria Caledonian Distillery location, key staff hires and opening in Spring:  I am pleased and excited to announce that our Victoria Caledonian Distillery has secured a location, hired key personnel, and will be opening later this Spring. Custom Designed 30L Cask Offer:  The Victoria Caledonian Distillery is offering a unique 30L cask whereby you can custom design your own whisky from a range of 5 new-make spirits distilled by our ex-Diageo Master Distiller Mike Nicolson and 10 oak-wood maturation options carefully selected from Spain, Portugal and Kentucky by our Scottish whisky maturation expert, Dr. Jim Swan. Brand Ambassador, Andrew Campbell Walls:  Andrew was previously a whisky liquor store manager (Liquor Depot) and whisky bar manager (The Bothy), and founder of the Alberta Scotch Society in Edmonton with over 200 members. In this latter role he conducted many of that Society’s tutored tastings clad in kilt & claymore, in a thoroughly dynamic, entertaining and informative way. As a result he was made their life-time honorary Brand Ambassador. Andrew will be coordinating with your Convenor / President to come out to your club in the next few months to host a personal tasting for club members using select independent bottled single malts. Whisky gravy

This Scottish-inspired whisky gravy recipe is an ideal match for our haggis
– 2 tbsp plain flour
– 2 tbsp butter
– bouquet garni
– 50ml whisky
– 500ml beefstock
– pepper to taste
– Place the saucepan over a low heat, stir the flour into the melted butter cook for 2 minutes, stirring
– Stir in the herbs and whisky and cook for 2-3 minutes.
– Gradually add the stock, stirring, until smooth.
– season, and strain into a jug to serve.

Scotch & Schubert OSM+

Une invitation spéciale pour un événement vendredi le 22 janvier prochain pour la dégustation Scotch & Schubert OSM+.

Andrew Wan et Sylvain Murray (deux amis de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM) qui sont particulièrement friands de scotch) et Alexandre McCormack, membre du club Whisky Montréal, en compagnie d’autres musiciens de l’OSM, organisent une expérience spéciale de dégustation en collaboration avec l’OSM+. Ils accorderont scotch et musique classique.

Au menu dégustation : une escapade dans les Highlands, au nord d’Inverness, pour déguster les produits de la distillerie Glenmorangie, le tout présenté par un scotsman authentique, soit l’ambassadeur national de marque Ruaraidh MacIntyre.

Le tout, précédé d’un concert du célèbre Quintette à cordes de Franz Schubert, offert par des musiciens de l’OSM : Andrew Wan et Alison Mah-Poy (violons), Victor Fournelle-Blain (alto) ainsi qu’Anna Burden et Sylvain Murray (violoncelles).

L’événement a lieu dans le hall de l’édifice légendaire de la BMO au 119 rue St-Jacques.,
